Me and My WorkEllenlatest72dpiRGB

My top three values are:

  1. Integrity
  2. Honesty
  3. Love

I do the work I do because:

Writers write, producers produce…I want to help writers produce and publish books of excellent quality!

If I could invite two or three people to dinner to discuss his/her life journey and career, I’d invite:

David Foster, Jack Canfield, Barbara De Angelis.

The next big challenge for me around my work is:

To let writers know that it’s a skill to produce books well.

If my clients hold on to only one piece of advice from me, I hope it’s:

Excellence is key.

If I couldn’t do the work I’m doing now, I’d be:

I don’t want to do anything else!

I can never get enough of:

Music.

A person in my field I admire greatly is:

Dan Poynter

A famous person I admire is:

Oprah Winfrey

My favorite question to ask people is:

Tell me about you and your book.

If an hour suddenly opened up in my schedule I would:

Workout.

The biggest compliment someone could pay me is:

Thank you. Your work made a big difference in my book’s life.

My biggest accomplishment so far is:

Becoming successful in my chosen field and continually expanding with 3 book contests in addition to being a book shepherd.

My top three bucket list items are:

Learn to dance well; have a full social life with lots of friends that are close to me; enjoy the beauty of California by going on trips.

I would love my name to be synonymous with (or when people hear my name I want them to think):

She’s the best of the best in self and independent publishing.

My favorite work of fiction is:

One favorite—impossible! I have so many.

My favorite nonfiction book is:

You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay

Putting Your Best Book Forward

What was the deciding factor that propelled you to write your book?

To let new writers know, who want to self/indie publish, that it’s important not to try to do everything yourself as an amateur and show them an overview of the self/indie publishing business as it is today. I’m writing a second edition as we speak since the field is exploding….and indie books are gaining more panache and acceptance.

What was your experience of the writing process?

It’s not so easy!

Do you have any advice for anyone struggling with the writing process?

Work with a good editor.

What has been the feedback from clients and your community since publishing?

I am treated as an expert in my field and well respected.

How has your book affected or changed your business?

It has given me a bigger platform.

How has publishing your book given you a bigger voice as an expert in your field?

I am invited to speak at many events and on teleseminars and webinars.

How/where did you publish?

I started my own small press, Little Moose Press

Why did you choose this route?

It’s [independent publishing] the best way to control everything

Were there any obstacles along the way?

Always

Do you have any suggestions or words of advice for others considering self-publishing (independent publishing) for the first time?

Get help from the best people you can.

What is the best advice you can offer authors-in-waiting?

Try not to learn how to do everything yourself. Get good advice from the experts.

All about publishing…
